Admission Arrangements

    • Admission to the school normally follows completion of a statutory assessment and pupils will have a statement of special educational needs or an Education, Health and Care Plan
    • The local authority determines admission to the provision, considering parental preference and following consultation with the governing body and head teacher.
    • The majority of admissions will take place at the start of the academic year.
    • Should further admissions be required, these are considered carefully by the school and local authority to ensure the placement would not be incompatible with the efficient education of the other pupils with whom the pupil would be educated, or with the efficient use of resources.
    • Where possible a member of staff from Kings Meadow visits the pupil in their current placement and pupils are invited to visit the school prior to admission.

Our Beliefs

  • All children can and will achieve.
  • There is always a reason behind a child’s behaviour response.
  • The greatest cognitive growth happens when needs are met.
  • Knowing the children we teach is as important as knowing what we teach.
  • Knowing the families of the children we teach and working with them is essential to children’s education.
  • Social and emotional development is equal to academic development.
  • How children learn is as important as what children learn.
  • Lasting change starts with the adult community.

Our Vision and Aims

At Kings Meadow School we are committed to working in partnership with parents / carers, other agencies and the wider community towards achieving our vision which is to create:

  • A learning community where pupils have the right to learn and grow intellectually, emotionally and socially in a nurturing environment.
  • A school where all pupils are encouraged to achieve their greatest potential.

In order to achieve this vision we believe that all pupils should:

  • feel safe in a caring environment, which through an ethos of support, challenge and encouragement recognises, celebrates and builds on success
  • have equal opportunity to enjoy a high quality education that meets their academic, creative, emotional, physical and spiritual needs
  • be encouraged to develop the attitudes, skills and abilities to become co-operative, respectful, confident, independent life long learners, well prepared to take their place in a rapidly changing world
  • have opportunities for fun and enjoyment.
